1. History

MotoGP was founded in 1949, initially only set up six races, after 8, 10, 12, 13, 15 races, to 1999 until 2004, maintaining 16 races every year. Since 2005, it has increased to 17 stations. The frequency of the competition is constantly expanding, and its territory is also expanding. Before 2002, the World Motorcycle Grand Prix was called the WGP. Beginning in 2002, the International Motorcycle Federation (FIM) changed the name of the highest level GP500 and the entire event to MotoGP.

In 1964, the World Motorcycle Grand Prix joined the American station for the first time, and in 1967 joined the Canadian station for the first time. After stagnating in the 1970s, the sport began its globalization again in the 1980s. In 1983, the South African race was set up for the first time. In 1987, Suzuka, Japan entered the race for the first time. In 1991, the Australian Grand Prix was held for the first time in Malaysia, and in 1996, the Indonesian Grand Prix was held for the first time. name remains. In this way, since 2000, Japan has set up two events at the same time. In 2004, the Qatar station in the Middle East entered the event schedule, and Suzuka of Japan withdrew. After such continuous expansion, MotoGP can now be said to have become a veritable world event spanning five continents.

2. Introduction

MotoGP currently has three levels, MOTO3, MOTO2, and MotoGP, that is, each station has three groups of events. The Moto GP group was upgraded from the GP500. The main change was the conversion from the original two-stroke 500cc engine to a 990cc four-stroke engine. Since this reform measure was officially confirmed and implemented by the International Federation of Motorcycles (FIM) in 2000, MotoGP's status in motorcycle racing is equivalent to F1's current status in formula racing. The racing cars used in MotoGP are all specially made, pursuing speed and focusing on viewing, no less than F1. Because the body of MotoGP racing car is narrower than that of F1, there are more vehicles participating in the competition, and the overtaking opportunities are much more than that of F1, and sometimes the ranking changes almost every lap. It also happens from time to time that drivers suddenly sprint and change the pattern on the last lap or even the last corner. In addition, in the MotoGP event, the driver's body is completely exposed, and generally they do not pit to refuel, and there is no pit-stop strategy. Therefore, MotoGP is more exciting and exciting than F1.

3. Level

MotoGP is divided into three levels: MotoGP level (1000cc), Moto2 level (600cc replaces the original GP250 level) and Moto3 level (250cc replaces the original GP125 level). All classes now feature four-stroke engines.

-MotoGP

The original name was GP500, which was changed to MotoGP in 2002.
From 2002 to 2006, Binghui canceled the 2-stroke 500cc engine, and stipulated that the new racing engine must be 4-stroke 990cc or less, with no more than 6 point cylinders, and cannot use dual-clutch devices, etc.
The weight of the whole car is less than 165 kg; but 2002 is a transition period, allowing some teams to continue to compete with 500cc 2-stroke cars, so the 2002 racing is very exciting, it is a melee showdown between 500cc and 990cc;
From 2007 to 2011, the race will be restructured to 800cc 4-cylinder, with a total weight of not less than 153kg, and no more than 8 engines can be used per season
In 2012, the competition was restructured to 1000cc, with a maximum of 4 cylinders, and the cylinder diameter did not exceed 81mm, and the weight was less than 157kg; due to the global economic downturn, many factory teams such as KAWASAKI and SUZUKI have withdrawn from the competition, and there are fewer and fewer participating vehicles. The 2012 competition In order to reduce the cost of participating in the set and attract more participating vehicles, a special case of CRT (Claiming Rule Team referred to as CRT racing) was introduced; the CRT racing engine is the engine of the production car, but the frame must be designed by itself. The number of engines is 12, the other factory team is 6, and the fuel is 24 liters, the other factory team is 21 liters.

- Moto2

In 2010, the GP250 category will be restructured and canceled. The engine of the racing car adopts the CBR600R specially modified by Honda, with 4 cylinders and 4 strokes. The frame is designed by the team or other companies. In terms of electronic system, for the time being, only the TC system does not have an ECU, nor does it use sliding Clutch (so you can see a lot of drivers drifting into corners)

-Moto3

In 2012, the GP125 category will be restructured and cancelled, and the racing engine specification is 250cc single-cylinder
